Flashback Friday: Yo Homie Peep This-tini!

We've got another clever Flashback Friday cocktail for you today!  This one is sure to be a hit at your Easter party because it's a cocktail AND candy all rolled into one!!! 

Makes 1

1½ ounces vodka
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 ounce simple syrup
½ ounce raspberry liqueur

Add vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup and raspberry liqueur to a shaker with crushed ice and shake vigorously until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker. Strain into a martini glass and top with a Peep! Happy Easter!

Drink This, Wear That!

It was a nice breezy 71 degrees here in Central California and if you ask us what our favorite warm-weather beverage is, chances are we'll scream, "MOJITOS!!!!!" Our latest creation is the Asian Fusion Mojito and it is damn tasty! We didn't know what to do with sake until we invented this little number! And it just happens to pair nicely with this gorgeous fluorescent pink and yellow rhinestone necklace from BaubleBar! So go get yo' drank and yo' fashion on!

Want It Wednesday: Zoya Nail Polish!

Zoya is one of our absolute favorite brands of nail polish! DIY Tuesday: Lemongrass Simple Syrup

Lemongrass Simple Syrup

Step #1: Put on an Asian-inspired rhinestone panda ring by Betsey Johnson. (Similar one here!)
Step #2: Don your arms with turquoise wooden bangles.
Step #3: Chop up 3-4 stalks of lemongrass.
Step #4: Add them to a saucepan and bring to a boil with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water.
Step #5: Let mixture sit for a few hours to a few days in the refrigerator and strain before use.
Step #6: Use the syrup in an Asian Fusion Mojito! You deserve it after all that hard work!

Mojito Monday: Asian Fusion Mojito

We were recently asked to create an Asian-inspired cocktail for the spring issue of Audrey Magazine!  It was a fun challenge for us and we ended up with a fabulously exotic new creation!

Asian Fusion Mojito

Makes 1

2 ounces sake
1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce Lemongrass Simple Syrup (Recipe coming tomorrow!)
1 ounce ginger liqueur (like Domaine de Canton)
10 fresh mint leaves
Club soda

Combine the lime juice, simple syrup and mint leaves in a glass and muddle.  Add the sake and ginger liqueur and stir.  Fill the glass with ice and top off with club soda.

Flashback Friday: Honey Bunny

We fancied ourselves quite clever when we made this Easter cocktail last year.  It may be difficult to top, but we've got a few tricks up our sleeves... In the meantime, rip the head off of a chocolate bunny and get yo' drank on!  Skål! (That's Norwegian for "Cheers" while drinking out of a skull)

Honey Bunny

Makes 1

1 hollow chocolate bunny
2½ ounces milk
2 ounces chocolate liqueur
1 ounce vanilla vodka
1 tablespoon Lavender-Infused Honey Syrup

In a cocktail shaker with ice, add milk, chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka and Lavender-Infused Honey. Shake vigorously until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker. Rip the head off of that bunny and pour in your cocktail! Now say, "Cheers" and eat those rabbit ears!

Lavender-Infused Honey Syrup
1/8 cup honey
1/8 cup water
1 tablespoon dried lavender

Combine honey, water and lavender in a small saucepan. Heat until honey has melted. Let steep for at least one hour and strain.

Spring is officially here, or so we've been told, and we couldn't be more ready! We are SOOOO over sweaters, scarves and boots! Bring on the dresses, bikinis and sunglasses! Last year to honor spring we made our official Spring-tini, a light and tasty lavender creation. Now if only we had the perfect frock to pair it with- oh, wait! We do! It's this chic little Marni number!

Taste Test Tuesday: Zotz!

OMG!  Anyone else remember Zotz???  These are one of our favorite childhood candies and we didn't realize that they still existed!  We found them at Old Navy (of all places!) and bought one in every flavor!  In case you haven't had Zotz before, they have a hard outer shell and inside is a powder that turns fizzy when inside your mouth.  We have learned that they are made in Italy and were first introduced into the US in 1968.  We tried four flavors: Green Apple, Cherry, Orange, Lemon and Grape.

Green Apple: Tasty
Cherry: Our favorite
Orange: Tasty
Lemon: Gross!
Grape: Tasty, but not like your traditional grape candy.

Monday Morning Eye Opener: Tangerine Screwdriver

Tangerine Screwdriver

Makes 1

1/2 cup freshly squeezed tangerine juice
2 ounces vodka
Powdered sugar

Combine tangerine juice and vodka in a glass and stir.  Add ice and garnish glass with a powdered sugar rim. Gooooooood morning!

Guinness Float

Now we want to warn you all before trying this drink, that it's not for everyone. We had heard so much about it, however, that we HAD to try it for ourselves. It's...well...interesting!  We'd love to hear your thoughts! 

Guinness Float

Makes 1

3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1 pint Guinness stout beer

Add ice cream to a glass, top with Guinness and (try to) enjoy!

Adult Shamrock Shake!

While we're normally not big fans of the golden arches, every year around St. Patrick's Day we get a hankering for a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's.  This year we thought we'd do one better and make our own adult version!  Watch out!

Adult Shamrock Shake
Makes 1

4 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/8 - 1/4 cup Irish cream
1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
5-10 fresh mint leaves
2-3 drops of green food coloring (optional)

Add ingredients to a blender and blend.  Top with whipped cream and make it rain with those green sprinkles!

Taste Test Tuesday: Pop Rocks

We have to admit that we could spend all day everyday taste testing candy!!! And this week it's not just ANY old candy, it's POP ROCKS!!! You know we love Pop Rocks, remember this video???

Bubble Gum:  Very tasty, but we were expecting the pop rocks themselves to turn into gum, instead of just having pieces of gum mixed in with bubble gum flavored pop rocks. 
Blue Razz:  Kind of tasty, kind of chemical-y.  Less tangy than the others.
Sour Apple Dips: Super tasty, love the concept of dipping the lollipop into the Pop Rocks! This was the clear favorite!

Flashback Friday: Irish Cereal Bomb!

With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, we thought you might need a little authentic Irish cocktail inspiration!  Here's a classic from last year...

Irish Cereal Bomb
Makes 1

1 oz Irish whiskey
1 oz Irish cream
3/4 cup milk
½ cup Lucky Charms cereal
Caramel sauce
A handful of marshmallows picked out of the cereal box

Soak the cereal in the milk for 5-10 minutes. Strain cereal and add milk to a shaker with ice. Add Irish whiskey and Irish cream. Shake vigorously until a frost forms on the outside of your shaker. Garnish martini glass by dipping rim of the glass into a plate of caramel sauce and sticking marshmallows to the caramel.

Drink This, Wear That: The Gangsta' Edition!

We've been admiring this glam bottle of gin from Okanagan Spirits for awhile now, we love how the word GIN looks like it's written in Broadway lights! Jazzy hands everybody! So about the gangsta' connection...waaaay before we were legal drinkers we fell in love with a certain lanky gangsta' rapper named Snoop Doggy Dogg and his famous ode to that intoxicating pine needle flavored liquor- Gin & Juice. We spent countless hours driving around in Flannery's beige 240D Mercedes bumpin' that track! And we wish we could say that this (gold skirt by Lipsy, black bustier by Cosabella and lip necklace by ASOS Collection) is the outfit we were wearing! DIY Pixie Sticks!

Step #1: Gather ingredients: 1 teaspoon citric acid, 2/3 cup freeze dried raspberries, 3 tablespoons sugar and paper straws (we got our straws at the fabulous Urbanic Paper Boutique in Venice!)
Step #2:  Make your nails as festive as your pixie sticks are going to be! (Similar colors here and here!)
Step #3: Adorn your hand with an obnoxiously colorful ring! (Similar one here!)
Step #4: Add ingredients to a food processor.
Step #5: Whiz it around until it's well blended.
Step #6: Fold over one end of the straw.
Step #7: Using a tiny funnel, or a piece of paper made into a funnel, pour candy into straw.
Step #8:  Move over Willy Wonka!

Monday Morning Eye Opener: Lemon & Rosemary Gin Fizz

Lemon & Rosemary Gin Fizz
Makes 1

1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 ounce Rosemary Simple Syrup
1 ounce gin (we heart Okanagan Spirits)
1 cup crushed ice
Club soda

To a tall glass add lemon juice, Rosemary Simple Syrup, gin and stir. Fill glass with ice and top with club soda. Are those eyes open yet???
