DIY Tuesday: Homemade Valentine's Day Lollipops!
Here's what you'll need:
1 cup sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
¼ cup water
1 packet of cherry Kool-Aid
Heart shaped lollipop molds
Lollipop sticks
Pink and red cake decorations
Vegetable oil (for greasing the mold)
Candy thermometer
Step #1: Put on an over-the-top crystal bling ring (similar one here!)
Step #2: Wrap your arms in Betsey Johnson kisses!
Step #3: Spray your heart shaped mold with cooking spray or rub with vegetable oil. Put a stick into each mold.
Step #4: Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Insert the candy thermometer and stir until sugar dissolves.
Step #5: Allow to boil, without stirring, until candy reaches 295 degrees (hard-crack stage). About 15 minutes.
Step #6: Once the candy reaches 295 degrees, remove it from heat. Stir in Kool-Aid.
Step #7: Pour the candy into the mold cavities, making sure to cover the back of the stick.
Step #8: Add embellishments if desired (we used cake sprinkles!)
Step #9: Allow to cool completely and remove once hardened.
