Katherine's Birthday Celebration!!!

Today is Katherine's birthday and we're celebrating all week long! Every year, instead of a birthday cake, she requests a homemade strawberry pie from our mom, so this year we've turned that pie into a cocktail! HOLLA! But what's that you say? Haven't we used our magical powers and turned a pie into a cocktail before? Yes, indeed! The Lemon Meringue Pie Drop, which happened to be THE BEST cocktail we had ever made...until now!

Alice & Trixie Photo Shoot

Fashion photography by Enrique Meza

We were thrilled to get to model these gorgeous dresses by one of our favorite labels, Alice & Trixie. So thrilled, in fact, that we made a drink in honor of them! So put on your favorite Alice & Trixie dress and whip up an Alice & Trixie Caipirinha! Flannery is wearing the Georgette Dress in hot pink and Katherine is wearing the Cece Dress in fuschia.

Alice & Trixie Caipirinha

As you know, we're big fans of bright color and sparkle in our wardrobes, so we were very excited to partner up with Alice & Trixie, the chic and vibrant NYC-based clothing line!  We got to model some FABULOUS pieces from their current collection (photo shoot post coming soon!) and obviously wanted to create an equally fabulous cocktail to go with our festive new frocks!  The use of bright color and texture in Alice & Trixie's clothing reminded us of a place where bright colors are a wardrobe staple- Brazil!  And since the Caipirinha is the national cocktail of Brazil, it was the perfect combination!

Alice & Trixie Caipirinha

Makes 1

¼ cup chopped mango
5 fresh raspberries
2 ounces cachaça
1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Crushed ice
Club soda

Muddle mango, raspberries and brown sugar at the bottom of a glass.  Add cachaça and lime juice.  Fill with crushed ice and top with club soda.

Happy Mother's Day!

You've seen our Flower Bomb cocktail, so you know what to drink on Mother's Day, but what should you wear???  Well you'll be one haute mama in this sexy silk dress by 1. Dolce & Gabbana!   And what would make the dress EVEN better?  A 2. Bando flower pouf!  Speaking of flower poufs, how chic is the label on this 3. Lotus vodka bottle?  And yet ANOTHER flower pouf??? Yes!  It's the Date Night ring by 4. Kate Spade!  Now if you've been following our blog religiously (as you should be), you know that we have the hots for 5. Nielsen-Massey Rose Water.  Not only is it in our Flower Bomb cocktail, it's also a key ingredient in our Moroccan Mojito, and in our Guns N' Rose Water Mojito.  We love the gorgeous label just as much as we love that crazy intense rose flavor!  And speaking of crazy intense!  Is this 6. Dorothy Perkins necklace a statement piece or what?  What is the statement?  A garden just exploded on my neck!  DEAL WITH IT!  And last, but certainly not least, the 7. perfume that inspired the cocktail!  Happy Mother's Day Ladies!

Bomb Your Mom!

This post is dedicated to our mom who happens to be just mad for flowers!  She has over 100 rose varieties in her backyard alone, and she routinely quizzes us on their names.  Seriously, Martha Stewart ain't got nothin' on this woman!  So in her honor we've invented a floral refreshment that you and your mom are sure to enjoy as well!  Happy Mother's Day!

"And what is the name of this rose, Girls?"  "Why it's 'Kimberlina'!"

Flower Bomb

Makes 1

¼ cup fresh blueberries
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup
2 drops rose water

Add blueberries to a cocktail shaker and gently muddle.  Next add vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, rose water and ice.  Shake vigorously until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker.  Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a rose.  Now go get bombed with your mom!

¡Feliz Cinco De Mayo!

We've forever been in love with these piñatas by 1. Confetti System!  Y'all know we're suckers for anything shiny and gold...Oh and Flannery just bought this 2. Juicy Couture ruffle dress on a little shopping spree in Palm Springs!  It's going to be her go-to margarita drinking frock (layered with piles of gold jewelry, of course!)  And what Mexican celebration is complete without a few rounds of Lotería?  We like this set by 3. Crafty Chica!  Katherine's "Bling, bling money 'aint a thang" rhinestone skull ring by 4. Betsey Johnson is always a conversation starter at the local cantina!  And since you'll need something to put your Cilantro & Jalapeño Margaritas in, we found these Polka-Dot Margarita Glasses by 5. Dia Ray!  Could they BE any more festive? And what's better than booze? Booze that comes disguised as art! Check out this Skull Tequila by 6. Kah

Cinco De Mayo Cilantro & Jalapeño Margarita

You all know about our Mexican pride here at Fashionably Bombed!  We ARE, after all, a quarter Mexican, and when you put us together that makes a half!  So we're half Mexican, DEAL WITH IT!!!  (Will that ever get old?)  Oh, and if you don't get that reference, this should explain everything.

 ¡Híjole

Don't forget to check out these rims (or as we say in Spanish "Los Rines"!)

Cilantro & Jalapeño Margarita

Makes 4

1 cup tequila
1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 cup triple sec
1/2 cup sugar
Small handful of cilantro
1 tablespoon chopped diced jalapeño
Salt
Chili powder

Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend. Then add 2-4 cups of ice and blend until slushy.  Rub rim of glasses with a lime.  Mix equal parts salt and chili powder together on a plate and dip glasses in!
