Celebrity Interview with Ciara Serumgard of Ciara Creates

We met jewelry designer Ciara Serumgard  when she moved into her beautiful Spanish style home in Central California.  Fortunately it just happened to literally be down the street from Flannery's house and the three of us became instant friends!  We bonded over our love of fashion and, of course, her bold, colorful jewelry!

Fashionably Bombed: First of all, your jewelry is GAWGEOUS!!! Please tell us how you got started!
Ciara Serumgard: I started designing jewelry 8 years ago. I clipped out the crowning piece from a sculpture I made from drift wood, wire and my grandmother's gems and wore it as a pendant.

FB: OK, very important question: What's your favorite cocktail? Do you have a signature "Ciara Special" cocktail that you make? If so, what's in it?
CS: If I'm not drinking a full-bodied and rich Cab, it would definitely be a Coco Lychee Martini!  To make one: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the cream of coconut, vodka and rum and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass, drop in a lychee, then garnish with a pinch of cinnamon.
FB:  That sounds very tasty!  We'll definitely have to try one!

FB:  We'd love to film an episode of Fashionably Bombed in your home country, The Philippines! What cocktails are popular there? Also, are there any traditional Filipino cocktails?
CS:  We'd love to have the fabulous Fashionably Bombed sisters over! Villa Escudero, the heritage resort of the Philippines, has Lambanita, a margarita made out of lambanog (coconut vodka).

FB:  So let's get serious, what bars and clubs should we hit up once the plane lands in Manila? We'll need a drink after that flight!
CS:  My favorite hotspot is Martinis at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel!  Aside from its tempting martini menu, it's the place to go for live jazz.  We can leave the gentlemen at Kipling's which is right beside it.  It specializes in single malt whiskies and fine cigars.  Other fun spots are The Establishment at the Fort and Fez at Serendra.
FB:  We just booked our flights!

FB:  Like us, you're big into fashion! Who are some of your favorite designers and why?
CS:  I patronize Filipino designers-- Joey Samson for tailored jackets, Ivar Aseron and John Herrera for
gowns and cocktail dresses, Patty Eustaquio for charmingly eccentric tops. Only Inno Caluza for
made-to-order jeans. Of course, we are very proud of our very own Monique Lhuiller and Bea Valdes.

FB:  If you were going to create a Fashionably Bombed jewelry line, using us as your inspiration, what would the pieces look like?
CS:  Gems in the shade of lemon and lime!
FB:  Tasty!  You could call it your Fashionably Bombed Mojito Collection!

FB:  What's your funniest drunken moment? (If you can remember it!)
CS:  After rounds of long island iced tea, I showed up at a boy's hotel room! A year and a half later, I married him!

You can see us wearing two of Ciara's amazing pieces in our Halloween episode:

Special thanks to Ciara!

Fashionably Bombed at Pecha Kucha

Pecha who???  Yeah, that's what we thought...until we learned that it's this awesome way for creative types to create a slide show and present it to an audience like this: 20 slides + 20 seconds per slide = a fun, fast and visually stimulating presentation!  So when Fashionably Bombed was asked to present at Pecha Kucha, we couldn't resist!  I mean, we're ALL about color, style and imagery! Plus, as much as they love us, our family and friends can only hear so much about Fashionably Bombed!

We want to thank Travis Sheridan and everyone at Creative Fresno for inviting us to participate!

Celebrity Interview with Alie & Georgia AND Irish Cereal Bomb

If you haven't been living under a rock for the past two years, you've seen the McNuggetini video by Alie & Georgia. And if you have been living under a rock, What's it like? Who's your decorator???

But seriously, if you've somehow managed to live this long without seeing it, WHOOMP! Here it is:

Obviously we have just a tad bit in common with these illustrious ladies, so we thought it might be fun to interview them! And we were right, it was a blast!

Fashionably Bombed: So we're really impressed with everything that you guys have accomplished. We would literally kill for our own show on the Food Network (not you guys, of course!) How did this all happen?
Alie & Georgia: We've been friends for a long time, although not as long as you guys- we didn't emerge from the same womb! But we started hanging out all the time once Georgia moved to LA. One night we were joking about wanting a drink, dinner and chocolate all in one, and the McNuggetini was born! So we filmed it, put it up online, and then it started getting a huge amount of hits.

FB: We have to know what it was like getting "THE" phone call from The Food Network!
A&G: The funniest part about it was that it wasn't actually a phone call, it was a facebook message!
FB:Wait! Really???
A&G: Yeah, we asked each other, "Did that creep just facebook us and say he was from The Food Network?"

FB: Then what happened?
A&G: They came to us and asked if we wanted to make six videos, and we sent them so many show ideas that they came back and said, "How about twelve videos?"
FB: Sweet!

FB: So you are probably two of the only people in the world who can relate to this problem, but we've found that working on cocktails day in and day out has left us with absolutely no desire for a cocktail at the end of the day!
A&G: Yeah, guys will ask us out on dates and say, "Hey! Wanna go get a cocktail?" and we're like, "NO!"

FB: So if you two were going to create a Fashionably Bombed cocktail, what would go in it?
A&G: Goldschlager and caviar with a foie gras rim.
FB: MMMMMMMM! We are SO down with all of those things!

FB:And last but not least, what do you ladies think about an Alie & Georgia/Fashionably Bombed collaboration?
A&G: Yes! We can get four coordinating outfits! Or we can do a parody of you and you can do a parody of us!

And in honor of both Alie & Georgia and St. Patrick's Day, we thought we'd make a cocktail inspired by Alie & Georgia's Cereal Killer Cocktail, but ours is authentically Irish because it has Lucky Charms!!!

Irish Cereal Bomb

Makes 1

1 oz Irish whiskey
1 oz Irish cream
3/4 cup milk
½ cup Lucky Charms cereal
Caramel sauce
A handful of marshmallows picked out of the cereal box

Soak the cereal in the milk for 5-10 minutes. Strain cereal and add milk to a shaker with ice. Add Irish whiskey and Irish cream. Shake vigorously until a frost forms on the outside of your shaker. Garnish martini glass by dipping rim of the glass into a plate of caramel sauce and sticking marshmallows to the caramel.

Charlie Sheeni Martini

We don't get it!  Why is everybody getting all riled up about old Chuckles Sheen?  He is a man who speaks the truth, and for that he deserves a cocktail!!!

The Charlie Sheeni Martini

Makes 1

1 ounce tiger blood (AKA freshly squeezed blood orange juice)
2 ounces X-Rated Fusion Vodka
1 bitchin' rock star from Mars (AKA Rockstar energy drink)
1 briefcase full of cocaine (AKA 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar)

Add blood orange juice and vodka to a shaker with ice and shake vigorously until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker.  Top off with Rockstar energy drink.  Moisten rim of glass with blood orange and dip into a plate of powdered sugar.  Drink directly through the eye.

Now take that martini glass, wrap both arms around it and love it violently.

Warning: If you try it once you'll die, your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body. Too much?

Celebrity Interview with Roxy Te of My Cup of Te!

We met Ms. Roxy Te through our mutual love of all things glamorous! She has a beautiful and super inspirational blog called My Cup of Te that has everything we love- color, fashion and cocktails!  But we really like her because we believe her to be our long lost Asian sister (or as Roxy says, "Our sister from another mister!!!")

Fashionably Bombed: OK, first off, how did you get started as a blogger?
Roxy Te: I started blogging right after I flew the coop and peaced out on the corporate man! I was seriously drowning in number crunching misery and cubicle-colored heart palpitations. My creative juices were experiencing a terrible drought, happy hour and for that matter daily meals, were merely a passing thought in my dreams. I was in major need of getting back in touch with all things I loved thus My Cup of Te was born. It’s a play on my last name “Te” and the popular idiom.

FB: Nice! We have a "Good" last name for clever idioms too!  So what did you do before blogging?
RT:Before joining this wonderful, most supportive community, I was an assistant buyer for Juniors dresses and tops, which sounds fun, but is not so much when travel gets cut because of the crapster economy, and you’re stuck doing nothing but projections and gross margin analyses.
FB: Yeah, that doesn't sound super fabulous...

FB: As you know, we're all about cocktails, so do you have a signature cocktail that you're known for? (Long Island Cup of Te anyone??? HAHAHA! We just made that up for you!)
RT: Signature? Anything with champers!! My friends know I will always come with sparkly in tow. Besides that my taste buds jump for joy when I whip together a cool, minty freshly muddled mojito. And then of course, there’s my other love Patron who I entertain on the rocks. When I don’t have the aforementioned three in hand, vodka and I are like peas and carrots, but infinitely more fun. I'm also a red wine kinda girl and am currently obsessed with Malbecs. So it’s kinda looking like I have a problem? Let's just say I like to get fashionably bombed while keeping it classy ;)

FB: If we were making cocktails at your party, which of our creations would you request?
RT: Well the first Fashionably Bombed post I ever read was the Hot Asian Apple Cider, and I died because 1) I’m Asian and 2) I’ve been called everything in the book from not so nice names to silly ones like the “Asian Persuasion” you mentioned. I had a fantastic laugh over your writing and sense of humor plus a moment over the deliciousness of the drink and pics (heyyyyy, heeeeyyy Tyson!) you share, SO I would have to request a Hot Asian Cocktail. Cider is so winter so maybe something a bit cooler if you would so kindly oblige? ;)
FB: MMMMMMMM! An Iced Asian Cider sounds deee-lish!

FB: We're working on a series of designer cocktails right now! Which designer would you like to see in cocktail form?
RT: Tom Ford. Hands. Down. Sultry, sexy, confident. I’ll have a tall glass of that!

FB: We know that you live in NYC, so what's your favorite place to get a cocktail?
RT: I was a student in NYC (can you say brizzzzoke?) so this may be a bit random but totally tailored to happy hour and a student’s budget. It’s called Bone Lick Park in Greenwich/West Village (that neighb. is totally my jam) where mojitos and margs flow free, well basically free for $3, all day every day! It’s more of a restaurant and also kind of like Cheers in that it was the place where everybody knew my name. (tear) I even have a t-shirt that only the staff wears. They also have the best cola and red velvet cakes- who doesn’t want to have their cake and eat it too? p.s. To all you New Yorkers, the specials may have changed by now so don’t go running.
FB: WHOA! Did you just say cola and cake in the same sentence??? We just died a little inside because it exists and we haven't had it yet.

FB: Anything else you'd like to share with us???
RT: Yes, yes, yes! I’m starting a new biz this year! Cheers! I can’t share the details quite yet, but I will say that you will NEED it in order to get Fashionably Bombed and in My Cup of Te terms to “Live Sparkly!” Looking to launch in September and would owe you an infinite amount of bubbly if you stay tuned :)
FB: We are SUPER excited!!! Thanks Roxy!
