Bloggers We Love: Jessica Marx

We met blogger/interior designer Jessica Marx at a fabulous party at The Parker Hotel  in Palm Springs (see that post here!) and we immediately clicked!  We talked for hours, only taking breaks to pose for Dynasty photo shoots and drink Fabulosi-tinis!  We recently got the chance to ask her some questions about blogging, fashion and, OF COURSE, cocktails!!!

Fashionably Bombed:  We simply adore your blog, Life's Little Jems!  It's so clean and chic and we love how you get design inspiration from everything- interiors, food, fashion, etc... So how long have you been blogging and how did you get started?
Jessica Marx:  I started Life’s Little Jems a little over a year ago. Blogging to me started as a means by which to organize all the amazing things that inspire me from furniture to fashion, food to photography. There are so many beautiful things that influence my designs and ideas. It can be hard to keep track of them all. I’m a total visual learner, so by blogging about it I am able to keep a record in my memory.

FB: So how would you sum up your blog in a sentence?
JM: Basically, I think that the name says it all… Life’s Little Jems (I spell it with a ‘j’ cause those are my initials). It’s all about those little gems in life you stumble upon on a daily basis and use for inspiration.

FB: We noticed that you have a new Etsy shop on your blog that is filled with UH-mazing things! What kinds of things catch your eye when you're out scouring flea markets and estate sales?
JM: Thank you! I’m all about finding that diamond in the rough. I love finding things that are maybe a little beat up and not in the best condition but you know underneath all that dirt and grime is something fabulous and sparkly. Oh, and if it’s gold that helps too.
FB: Oh yeah! LOVE gold!!!

FB: As you know, we're all about two things: Fashion and Cocktails! So we have to ask you to describe your favorite outfit, and of course, what cocktail you would pair with it!
JM: Well… as you know fashion is always changing and evolving, but after my recent trip to Paris I’m really digging that Parisian elegance. Maybe a pair of skinny jeans, a cute blouse and a Chanel-ish tweed blazer, and obviously a pair of fabulous ballet flats. Then I pile up the jewelry and accessories to take the chic factor up a few notches. I’d probably say that this type of outfit is best worn with a glass of champagne and with a few crushed strawberries.
FB: Love it! Chic and delicious!

FB: We know that you're an interior designer, in fact your house was recently featured in Rue magazine (see photos here!) So if you were going to design Fashionably Bombed's headquarters, what would it look like???
JM: Easy, it would be an overload of all things glittery and colorful. I mean just over the top fabulous with sparkles, garlands, confetti, bright colorful chairs and tables, and a giant gold mixing bar in the center… wait is this space supposed to be functional as well?
FB: OMG, you are SOOOO hired!!!

FB: Do you have a signature cocktail that you make? The Little JEM-tini, for example??? LOL! If not, what do you typically order when you go to a bar?
JM: Ohhhh…I’d love a JEM-tini, I’ve never had one, but if you ladies whipped one up for me I’d order it every time! Now if the bartender I’m ordering from isn’t as fabulous as you two girls I usually stick with a mojito, light, refreshing, and I adore anything with fresh mint.
FB: Good choice! In case you haven't noticed, we have a slight obsession with those infamous Cuban concoctions!

FB: Is there a particular Fashionably Bombed cocktail/blog post that speaks to you? If so, what does it say?
JM: The Sparkle-tini… I mean I think it’s pretty self-explanatory! Champagne, strawberries, chocolate, glitter, Absolute Perfection!

FB: Is there anything else we should know about you and/or your blog? Got any exciting things in the works that you care to share?
JM: I’m just working away on a few residential design projects and about to embark on a new commercial space here in down town LA… the fashion district to be exact! Between my design company, the blogging, and the shoppe I’m pretty busy… but who knows maybe it will soon be time for another business venture… custom furniture pieces, accessories, or textiles perhaps?!? The last 6 - 7 months have been a complete whirlwind and I honestly feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
Cheers girls!
FB: Oooooh! Very exciting! Thank you so much Jessica!
