Mexico City Champagne Cocktail

As you all know it's "Champagne Month" here at Fashionably Bombed.  And today we're taking our champagne south of the border.  But not to one of those scary border towns like Juarez, we're going all the way to Mexico City BABY!  And in case you didn't spend New Year's Eve with us (you were TOTALLY invited!), we had an informal Champagne Cocktail making competition, and this was one of the winning combos!  The inspiration???  While living in Mexico City, Flannery learned something very insightful about Mexicans...wait for it...they like GRAPEFRUIT.  Consider yourself cultured!!!

Mexico City Champagne Cocktail

Makes 1

1 ounce freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
½ ounce simple syrup
Pinch of freshly grated grapefruit zest
Pinch of red chili pepper flakes

To a champagne flute add grapefruit juice, simple syrup, grapefruit zest and red chili pepper flakes.  Top with champagne and stir.  Salud!
