Happy Halloween Reese's Peanut-Tini

Since candy is one of the reasons we get up in the morning, we couldn't NOT do a Halloween episode! For this cocktail we were inspired by the Reese's Peanut Butter cup and, trust us, the drink is even better than the candy!
BOO-yah!


On Katherine & Flannery: Twin dresses by French Connection, Necklaces by Ciara Marasigan-Serumgard

Reese's Peanut-Tini

Makes 2

1 oz. vodka
2 oz. chocolate milk
1 oz. chocolate syrup
2 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
1 oz. whipping cream
½ cup peanut butter
Large pinch of salt
2 cups of ice


Add all ingredients to blender and blend. Add 2 cups of ice and blend again!

Mint Melon Medley Margarita

The wait is finally over...and, unfortunately, so is summer.  Inspired by recent trips to the farmers market and Las Vegas to celebrate Katherine's birthday, we invented this deliciously beautiful concoction!  It's our final margarita recipe until next year!  So crank up the heater and whip up a batch of these babies!!!


On Katherine: Top by Oboe, Shorts by Club Monaco, Necklace by Banana Republic
On Flannery: Top by French Connection, Skirt by Banana Republic
Earrings by Amrita Singh

Mint Melon Medley Margarita

Makes 2

½ cup tequila
½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
¼ cup triple sec
1-2 tablespoons sugar (depending on the sweetness of the fruit)
½ cup prickly pear juice
2 cups frozen watermelon chunks
10 mint leaves (coarsley chopped)

Add all ingredients to blender. Blend. Enjoy!

Fashionably Bombed "The Remix": Ty Collins


This is our first post in a new series called "The Remix".  Here we take classic cocktails and give them our own little twist.

We're sure that you've all met Tom Collins, but did you know he has a sexy, younger, half-Asian brother named Ty? Allow us introduce you:

Mr. Ty Collins
Inspired by Katherine's massive lemongrass plant in the garden, we gave this classic American cocktail an Asian-inspired twist!  Cheers!

The Making of a Ty Collins
Ty Collins

Makes 1

2 ounces gin
2 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 ounce Lemongrass & Ginger-Infused Simple Syrup (see recipe below)
Club soda
Ice

Add gin, lemon juice and Lemongrass & Ginger-Infused Simple Syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake vigorously until a frost forms.  Strain into a tall, chilled glass and top off with club soda.  Garnish with a lemon slice and a maraschino cherry.  Hot pink umbrella is optional!

Lemongrass & Ginger-Infused Simple Syrup

½  cup sugar
½  cup water
3-4 lemongrass stalks
1 Tablespoon fresh ginger


Roughly chop lemongrass stalks and ginger. Combine water, sugar, lemongrass and ginger in a medium saucepan.  Boil until sugar has dissolved, stirring frequently.  Let it sit for a few minutes to a few hours, depending on how strong you want the lemongrass and ginger flavors.  Let cool, strain and store in refrigerator.

Fashionably Bombed Mumbai Margarita

The wait is finally over! Time to get your India on!!! Watch as The Fashionably Bombed Girls speak Hindi (Katherine is a former Yale Hindi Professor, FYI) and bust some Bhangra moves!


On Katherine: Dress by Club Monaco, Necklace by Betsey Johnson, Bracelets purchased in India
On Flannery: Dress by Rachel Roy, Necklace & Bracelet by Betsey Johnson

Mumbai Margarita
Makes 2

½ cup tequila
½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1-2 tablespoons sugar (depending on the sweetness of the fruit)
Seeds of 2 cardamom pods (finely ground)
1½ cups diced fresh mango
1½ cups diced fresh pineapple
Ice

Add all ingredients to blender. Blend. Then add 2-4 cups of ice and blend until slushy. Rub rim of glasses with a lime. Coat rim of each glass with a blend of sugar and cardamom.

Bumpkin (Bacon + Pumpkin) Pie-tini

The October cocktail contest on About.com was a fun challenge for us here at Fashionably Bombed! The theme for this month was Pumpkin! So while experimenting with pumpkin in the "cocktail lab" (AKA the kitchen) we got inspired when we saw and smelled the leftover bacon and bacon grease from the morning's breakfast. We chose to use maple syrup as the sweetener because it brings the flavors of the pumpkin and bacon together! Plus, who doesn't love bacon??? Try it, if you dare, and let us know what you think!



Bacon & Pumpkin Pie-tini
Makes 1

2 oz. canned pumpkin
2 ½ oz. half and half
1 ½ oz. bacon-infused vodka
1/3 oz. Original Cinn cinnamon schnapps
2 strips bacon (roughly chopped)
½ oz. maple syrup

Garnish
Whipped cream
Grated nutmeg
Cinnamon stick

Combine ingredients in blender. Pour into cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into martini glass. Top with whipped cream and grated nutmeg. Garnish with cinnamon stick.
