Christmas Cocktail #3- Spiked Christmas Chai

So what do these two goris (white chicks) know about India?  Well one of us (that would be Katherine) knows more than your average Indian!  With a BA in South Asian Studies from UC Berkeley and an MA in South Asian Studies from Cornell, she speaks several Indian languages and even taught Hindi at Yale and UC Davis.  She also lived in India for two years where she learned her DELICIOUS chai recipe!  Now Indians don't normally spike thier chai, but HELLO!  This is Fashionably Bombed!  So make a batch, put on a sari and bust some Bollywood moves around the Christmas tree!

DAMN!  That's a lot of flava'!

It's even tastier than it looks!

And, as always, dressing appropriately for cocktail hour is key to living a Fashionably Bombed lifestyle! Fortunately, Katherine came home from India with suitcases FULL of these gorgeous, hand-embellished silk scarves!

How do you say "Just Clownin'" in Hindi?

Spiked Christmas Chai

Makes 2

1 cup water
1 cup whole milk
2 black tea bags
1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
5 cloves
5 cardamom pods (slightly crushed)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vodka
1 tablespoon Bailey's Irish Cream
2 teaspoons cinnamon schnapps (we like Original Cinn by Hiriam Walker because it tastes like a cinnamon roll!)

In a saucepan combine water, milk, tea bags, ginger, cloves and cardamom pods.  Bring to a boil and stir continuously.  Turn stove to low and add sugar.  Keep stirring for 3-4 minutes until it's a light brown color.  Remove from heat and strain.  Stir in vodka, Bailey's and cinnamon schnapps.  Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Now raise your glass, and as we say in Hindi...oh wait...there is no Hindi word for "Cheers" because drinking in India is a no-no!  DOH!
