Kitty Litter Martini an April Fool's Cocktail

Inspired by all of the kitty litter cakes we've been seeing on Pinterest, we thought a cocktail version was in order for April Fool's Day! So if you're in need of a prank, invite some friends over for a round of these bad boys! Yes, it looks gross, but don't worry, it tastes nothing like the real thing!

Kitty Litter Martini

2 oz Vanilla Vodka
2 oz Godiva Chocolate Liquor
2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
2 oz cream

For Garnish

1 Tootsie Roll
2 Golden Oreo Cookies, center filling removed
1 Tablespoon light corn syrup

For garnish, remove the cream filling from two Golden Oreo cookies and lightly crush the cookies until they resemble the size and texture of kitty litter.  Lightly coat the rim of a martini glass with light corn syrup and dip the rim into the crushed cookies until fully coated.  Briefly microwave a tootsie roll for roughly 10 seconds or until it becomes malleable (but be careful not to burn yourself!)  Roll the tootsie roll into the shape of, well....a turd, and place it on the rim of your martini glass.

In a shaker with ice, add vanilla vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liquor, Bailey's Irish Cream and cream.  Shake and strain into your garnished martini glass.   Enjoy!

Book Review: Tequila Mockingbird

We were recently asked to review the new cocktail book Tequila Mockingbird by Tim Federle.  Seriously, with a title like that, how could we say no???  The subtitle is "Cocktails with a Literary Twist" and since we're both named after literary heavyweights (Flannery O'Connor and Katherine Anne Porter) we couldn't resist!  With drinks like "Are You There God?  It's Me Margarita" and "The Turn of the Screwdriver" this book is super clever with drink recipes that are easy to make and quite tasty!  Go here to get a copy for the literary nerd in your life!

Taste Test Thursday: Skinny Cow

When Skinny Cow asked us to review their new low calorie chocolate candy we were a bit skeptical. If you've read the list of ingredients for any one of our cocktails, you know that we're all about going big or going home when it comes to calories!  But since we do get readers asking for lower calorie options, we thought we'd give it a whirl!  We were pleasantly surprised!  These are super tasty!  Flannery was particularly fond of the peanut butter filled ones, while Katherine liked the caramel filled best! Three pieces of candy for only 130 calories= not too shabby!

Want more Skinny Cow?  You can find them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest!
